Dr. MARTIN IFFERT

Dr. Martin Iffert is a German-based expert for the metals and energy sector with a CEO background from the aluminum industry. After 25 years of corporate life and many different roles - from shop floor to CEO, from research to trading, from leadership to politics - he decided to start his own business. In his boutique consulting company, MARTIN IFFERT CONSULTING GmbH, he advises companies in the metals, battery and energy industry in Germany, France, Iceland, Canada and Austria.

In addition to these activities, together with his French partner, he founded EP ENERGY POOL GmbH. The mission of this company is the decarbonization of industries by way of electrification and flexibilization of industrial processes. Special focus is on the integration of renewable energies and the adaptation of the production process, to reduce the carbon footprint of industries and its products. With almost 30 years of experience in the industry, Martin has established a giant network of friends and partners to grow and succeed together. In 2021 Martin joined the Advisory Board of Aloft Holdings AG. Aloft owns and operates metals assets which can help transition the world to a greener future.

THE NETWORKER

Dr. Martin Iffert has published more than a dozen specialist articles and presented them at international conferences. He received several awards for his work on cell optimization and he is considered a pioneer in making aluminum smelters more flexible.

Mr. Iffert holds a PhD in chemical engineering from UNSW in Sydney, Australia, an MBA from IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland, and a diploma in electrical engineering from RWTH Aachen, Germany.

Iffert is involved in numerous clubs and associations. From 2016 to 2019 he was President of WVMetalle and a member of the BDI Presidium. He was also active on the Agora Energy Transition Council between 2014 and 2018. His main commitment has been the competitiveness of German industry, especially energy-intensive companies, for many years. Together with his team, he worked on trend-setting developments to make industrial companies more flexible and the necessary energy policy regulations.
